For Sesc, World Leisure Day represents a strategic moment to reaffirm leisure as a fundamental right and as a key element for individual and collective well-being. The celebration strengthens the understanding of leisure as a space for social connection, cultural expression, active participation, and citizenship.
Throughout the different editions, Sesc has actively contributed to World Leisure Day by offering a wide range of practical activities, including tourism experiences, physical activities and sports, artistic and cultural programs, educational actions, and community-based initiatives. These experiences bring the campaign’s principles into everyday life, allowing people to experience leisure in a meaningful and accessible way.
Since 2025, World Leisure Day has also become, for Sesc, a space for reflection and dialogue, with the inclusion of a Leisure Conference as the main celebration. The event brings together international speakers and promotes debates on the importance of leisure in people’s lives, its relationship with public policies, territories, and social development.
Being involved as a founder and long-term collaborator of World Leisure Day is highly meaningful for Sesc. The partnership with WLO connects local actions to a global vision, contributing to the consolidation of the campaign and to the strengthening of leisure as a topic on the international agenda.
